Deciding Between Glasses and Lenses
There’s a never ending debate as to which one is better: eye glasses or contact lenses. They both actually have different advantages and disadvantages. And you should find out more about them before taking your pick.
Here’s a bird’s eye view as to the pros and cons of eye glasses and contact lenses.
The Contact Lens
Using contact lenses has various advantages which make them popular especially among the youngsters. Ever since the creation of contacts, the lives of those with eye problems have never been the same again. Aside from playing with colors, you can also wear your favourite bear of sunglasses over it.
People wearing contacts have a wider field of vision. Wearing glasses with frames will block your peripheral vision. This is one less thing to worry about when you wear contacts.
Self-expression also has more room for those wearing contacts. Those who love playing around with their looks get drawn to the various colors of contacts.
Contacts are also great for sporty individuals. Getting rid of glasses means being free to move about and play the sports they love without their vision getting impaired.
The downside to contact lenses is that you can only wear them for a limited period of time. So if you tend to spend long hours reading or in front of the computer, this may not be a good choice for you.
Although it might sound like contacts are a better choice, it’s not always true. The thought of sticking a finger into the eyes is not nearly appealing for some people. There are still a handful who would prefer glasses over lenses.
Allergies is one major factor that makes people choose glasses. It’s intolerable for some to have something in their eyes. They feel uncomfortable and often experience various allergic reactions. These reactions range from mild discomfort to severe itching or pain and redness. You are also prone to eye irritation.
If you wear glasses, you also give your eyes additional protection. They shield your eyes from dust and other irritants. Moreover, you can wear your glasses as long as you want.
Contacts can be a lot of hassle to put on. It requires more time to put on. You also have to spend time taking it off. It also requires a lot of maintenance such as eye drops used throughout the day. Busy people might not find this appealing.
Contacts are also a lot of trouble for people who tend to lose things. They are small and translucent and when you lose them they are very difficult to find.
Each one has an advantage and disadvantage. Your choice would all depend on your own lifestyle and personal preferences.
